LAST, TURN IN YOUR CURRENT VEHICLE

Schedule a Turn-In Appointment at your Genesis dealer once all your repairs have been made.
Make sure to:
  • Clean your vehicle inside and out.
  • Remove any garage door remotes and toll tags.
  • Remember to delete any personal data that may be stored in your vehicle's audio or navigation system and HomeLink® before turn-in.
  • Fill out and sign an Odometer Disclosure Statement then, fax completed statement to (972) 590-3968.
  • Make sure all equipment provided with the vehicle is present, including but not limited to:
    • Keys & keyless remotes
    • Owner's manual
    • Headrests
    • Cargo covers/nets (if applicable)
    • License plates (check with DMV to determine plate return requirements)

CAN I RETURN MY VEHICLE TO A NON-GENESIS DEALER?
No, your vehicle must be returned to an authorized Genesis dealer.
WHAT ARE MY OPTIONS AT THE MATURITY OF MY LEASE?
You may choose to purchase or lease a new vehicle, purchase your current vehicle, or simply return your vehicle.

DO YOU OFFER ANY BENEFITS FOR RETURNING CUSTOMERS?
As a reward for your loyalty, when you lease or finance a new Genesis with Genesis Finance within 60 days of returning your lease, your vehicle Turn-in Fee will be covered up to $400(1). As an additional benefit of your Loyalty Reward, any Excess Wear and Use charges will also be covered up to $500, and any excess mileage below 2,500 miles is covered up to $625.(2) That's a total reward of up to $1,525.

WHAT STEPS DO I NEED TO TAKE AT OR NEAR LEASE-END?
For your convenience, Genesis Finance will reach out to you with all of the information on when to act and what to do at all of the crucial milestones in the lease-end process, usually in one or more of the following ways:

  • Keep an eye out for your Lease-End Kit, which will have what you need to know and more, plus some valuable tools for the lease-end process. It will be mailed to you approximately 120 days before your lease maturity date.

  • This website also features a number of valuable resources to assist with lease-end, including our innovative online Self-Assessment Tool, which will allow you to estimate any potential excess wear and use on your vehicle in just minutes. To get started simply visit the Self-Assessment section of this site.

  • If you complete your self-inspection and still have questions, at any time you may also reach out to a Lease-End Concierge at (833) 537-5441, Monday - Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Eastern with any questions.
WHAT IF I WANT TO TURN IN MY VEHICLE EARLY?
You have the option to turn in your vehicle at any time. However returning your vehicle in advance of your scheduled maturity date may be considered an early termination under your lease agreement. Our team of Lease-End Concierges will be happy to help with any questions you may have.

We recommend you schedule an appointment to allow for a smoother vehicle return experience and so that we may address any questions you may have. Not scheduling an appointment may result in delayed assistance and longer processing times.

DO I NEED TO DO ANYTHING WITH MY LICENSE PLATES AFTER I TURN IN MY VEHICLE?
It varies by state. Please contact your local Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) office if you have questions about whether this applies to you.
DO I NEED TO CANCEL ANY ELECTRONIC OR AUTOMATIC PAYMENTS AT THE END OF MY LEASE?
Yes. Once your final payment is made, contact your bank or login to your genesisfinanceusa.com account and cancel any scheduled recurring payments to avoid ongoing charges.

Any costs associated with the operation of the vehicle are your responsibility. This includes personal property tax which is charged based on your garaging/registration address and may also be referred to as excise tax, ad valorem, or motor vehicle tax. In the following 13 states, property tax is charged on all tangible property, including the use of motor vehicles

If your vehicle is garaged/registered in CO, DC, FL, HI, IN, PA, SD, SC, or KS, you will need to contact a Dealership to purchase the vehicle.

Once you've received your quote, download our Odometer Disclosure Statement. Follow the instructions on the form to fax the completed and signed form.

If you've decided to return your Genesis, the first step is to evaluate your vehicle for wear and tear by doing a Vehicle Self-Assessment.

YOUR LEASE-END CONCIERGE

POTENTIAL FEES

It is essential that you understand potential fees (e.g., excess mileage, disposition or turn-in fee and taxes). If you decide to return your vehicle without purchasing or leasing a new vehicle through Genesis Finance, you will be charged a $400 disposition fee.

TURN-IN APPOINTMENT

Be sure to schedule a turn-in appointment with your dealer for a smooth vehicle turn-in experience and to address any questions or concerns you may have.

WEAR AND USE ESTIMATION

These guidelines for acceptable wear and use will help you evaluate your vehicle for potential excess wear and use. If an area exceeds the acceptable level of damage, you should consider making repairs before turn-in. Acceptable wear and use includes:

  • Scratches less than 4"
  • Dings/dents less than 4"
  • Windshield cracks less than 2"
  • Window chips less than 1/2"
  • Paint chips less than 1/2"
  • Tire tread equal to or more than 1/8" from lowest point

If you complete your self-inspection and still have questions on your vehicle's condition, contact a Lease-End Concierge to schedule a complimentary pre-termination inspection. This inspection can be scheduled online, but must be performed within 60 days of when returning your vehicle.

CAN I MAKE REPAIRS TO AVOID EXCESS WEAR AND USE CHARGES?
Yes, you can minimize wear and use charges by making repairs ahead of turn-in. Contact your Genesis dealer to get assistance with repair options. You may also choose to have repairs done independently as long as they are done prudently and according to industry standards. All repairs must be made using original equipment manufacturer's parts or those of equal value. Please call your Lease-End Concierge at (833) 537-5441, Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 9 p.m. Eastern to learn more about repair requirements. Before getting any work done, check with your vehicle insurance company to see if any repairs can be covered.
